LOOK FOR IN SEPTEMBER – Annual Notice of Coverage (ANOC)

As the Annual Enrollment Period (October 15th to December 7th) draws closer, your Medicare Advantage Plan or Part D plan, is required to mail the Annual Notice of Coverage (ANOC) documents to their members by the end of September, annually.

What are these documents, you ask? Good question and you need to know!

This document provides information about changes to your coverage in the upcoming year (2025). The document will also compare your 2024 plan benefits and the changes for 2025.

The types of changes you will want to look for are:

  • Changes to your plan’s costs like premiums, deductibles, and copays.
  • Changes to the plan’s network that might affect coverage for your current providers and pharmacies
  • Changes to the plan’s formulary that might affect coverage of your current drugs or their prices.

You will want to decide if your current health plan will still meet your needs for the new year

If you haven’t received your notice by September 30th, contact your plan to request a copy. The Member Services number will be on the back of your insurance card.

The Annual Enrollment Period to make insurance changes is

October 15th to December 7th … annually.

CHANGES: PART D (Rx) HELP FOR 2025 and the INFLATION REDUCTION ACT

The Inflation Reduction Act provides meaningful financial relief for millions of people with Medicare by improving access to affordable treatments and strengthening the Medicare Program both now and in the long-run.

People with Medicare will benefit from lower prescription drug costs and a redesigned prescription drug program. Benefits include:

  • Insulin available at $35/month per covered prescription
  • Access to recommended adult vaccines without cost-sharing
  • A yearly cap ($2,000 in 2025) on out-of-pocket prescription drug costs in Medicare
  • Expansion of the low-income subsidy program (LIS or “Extra Help”) under Medicare Part D to 150% of the federal poverty level starting in 2024. (So more people will qualify, based on income, for help with their prescription drug costs. Don’t delay to see if you qualify).

WHAT CLUES YOUR HANDS OR NAILS CAN TELL YOU ABOUT YOUR HEALTH

I ran across this interesting article about what clues the health of your body is giving you based on symptoms.

Some symptoms you would want to look for are:

  • a weak handshake,
  • swollen painful fingers,
  • yellow knuckle bumps,
  • downward curved nails,
  • hand tremors,
  • spooned nails,
  • joints that pop, and
  • nail pitting or red-brown lines under your nails.

I think everyone can identify with at least one of these symptoms or know someone.

The article provides more information and is interesting.
